A recent leak has revealed a special edition of the Google Pixel Watch 5, designed in collaboration with NBA star Steph Curry. The device, which is set to be announced at the Made by Google launch event, will feature a unique band with a water-repellent coating, similar to the Fitbit Air version.

The Google Pixel Watch 5 Steph Curry Special Edition will have the same orange and grey/beige design as the Fitbit Air version and will feature Curry’s name on the strap along with the hashtag #LockedIn. The band will be water-repellent, but the protection is not permanent and may diminish over time due to normal wear and tear.

The leak also suggests that the special edition strap will be limited to the larger 45mm LTE model of the Google Pixel Watch 5, and will cost €579.99, which is €30 more than the standard model. The device may also be limited to the US, similar to the Fitbit Air.

In related news, Google has released a teaser video for the Made by Google event, which shows the Google Pixel Watch 5 and takes a jab at rival smartwatches, including the Apple Watch Series 10. The video says, ‘Imagine a watch that tracks your health, sleep and fitness… but still has the decency to look like a watch.’

The Google Pixel Watch 5 is set to be announced on August 12, and will likely compete with other smartwatches such as the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and the Apple Watch Series 10. The device will run on Wear OS, Google’s operating system for wearables, and will feature a similar design to the Google Pixel Watch 4.

The Made by Google event will also likely feature other devices, including the Google Pixel 11 and the Google Pixel 11 Pro, which will compete with other smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S25 and the Apple iPhone 14 Pro. The event will be live-streamed on August 12, and will provide more information about the Google Pixel Watch 5 and other upcoming devices.
