Pixel Watch 5 Price Hike
Pixel Watch 5 May Introduce First-Ever Price Hike
The Pixel Watch 5, Google’s next smartwatch, may be the latest victim of the global price rise trend, with reports suggesting that all four versions of the device will be more expensive than their predecessors. This news comes after a leak about the Pixel 11 price rises, which may not be as severe as initially thought.
The cheapest model of the Pixel Watch 5, the 41mm non-LTE version, will reportedly cost £369 at launch, which is £20 more than the equivalent Pixel Watch 4 configuration. The price increase is more significant for US customers, with the base model increasing in price for the first time, from $349 to $399. In contrast, the Apple Watch Series 10 and Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 have maintained a more stable price point.
The price hikes vary across different models, with the 45mm non-LTE version costing the same in the UK and only $20 more in the US. The 45mm LTE configuration, on the other hand, will cost £50/$80 more than its predecessor. The 41mm LTE model will see the biggest increase, with a price rise of £70/$100.
Although these figures are not confirmed, the source, Dealabs, has a strong track record for Pixel news, making them unlikely to be far off the mark. In comparison, the Fitbit Ionic and Garmin Forerunner 955 have also seen price adjustments in recent months.
However, there is some comfort for Pixel Watch 5 fans, as the device will be available in four colours: ‘Natural Silver’, ‘Dark Anthracite’, ‘Warm Gold’, and ‘Pyrite’. The latter is a new addition, although there is some confusion about its exact shade, with Dealabs suggesting it will be a shade of green and Nieuwe Mobiel’s mockup giving it a more tan-like appearance.
The launch of the Pixel Watch 5 is just weeks away, with Google having confirmed an event for 12 August. Although there is no official mention of smartwatches, it would be a huge shock if the Pixel Watch 5 did not launch alongside the Pixel 11 series. The upcoming launch will also see the release of the iPad Air M2 and Samsung Galaxy S25, making it an exciting time for tech enthusiasts.
Only time will tell if the expected price rises will affect the Pixel Watch 5’s chances of being one of the best smartwatches available, competing with the likes of the Apple Watch Series 10 and Samsung Galaxy Watch 6. With the Google Pixel 7a and Google Pixel Fold also on the horizon, Google is set to have a strong presence in the UK tech market.
