Samsung has started delivering One UI 9, its custom skin for Android 17, to a select group of Galaxy devices. The first stable builds are arriving for the Samsung Galaxy S26, Samsung Galaxy S26+ and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. In addition, the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S26 FE ships with Android 17 pre‑installed, as do the foldable Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8.
Key AI‑driven features in One UI 9
One UI 9 introduces several AI‑powered tools that aim to make everyday tasks faster. NowNudge lets users perform context‑sensitive actions directly from a chat window – for example creating a calendar event or booking a restaurant table without leaving the conversation. NowBrief offers concise summaries of useful information such as sleep quality, weather forecasts, upcoming appointments or podcast suggestions, and users can choose which data appears on the home screen. My Fancam is a video‑recording helper that keeps a selected subject centred in the frame, automatically adjusting the view to reduce shakiness.
Enhanced warranty, care and security options
A new “Warranty and Care” entry in Settings lets owners check the warranty status of connected devices and run diagnostic checks on any reported issues. Security also gets a boost with features like Security Brief, which highlights current malware warnings, apps requesting unnecessary permissions and other potential threats. AI‑generated privacy alerts warn users when an app or third‑party service attempts to access personal data without explicit consent.
How to install the update
The One UI 9 update is delivered over the air. Eligible devices will receive a notification prompting automatic installation, but users can also start the process manually. Go to Settings, select Software Update and tap Download and install. It may be necessary to check for new updates first.
Future devices slated for One UI 9
Samsung has hinted that more Galaxy models will join the One UI 9 family in the coming weeks. Expected additions include the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, Samsung Galaxy S24 series, Samsung Galaxy Z7 series and other mid‑range devices. In Thailand, earlier reports suggested a September 28 rollout for the Samsung Galaxy S25 and Samsung Galaxy Z7, but the regional news page now only mentions September without a specific date. Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S23 can also anticipate One UI 9 as their final major OS upgrade, while the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE is expected to receive the update by October. The Samsung Galaxy S22 range has already reached its final major version but will continue to receive security patches.
