Samsung Launches One UI 9 For Galaxy S26, Z Fold 8 And Other Android 17 Devices

One UI 9 arrives on Samsung Galaxy devices

Samsung has begun rolling out One UI 9, its custom skin for Android 17, to a select group of Galaxy smartphones. The first stable wave targets the Galaxy S26 series – the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra – as well as the newly launched Galaxy S26 FE. Foldable fans can also expect the update on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8.

Key AI features in One UI 9

One UI 9 introduces several AI‑driven tools that aim to make everyday tasks smoother. NowNudge lets users perform context‑sensitive actions directly from a chat window. For instance, while discussing a dinner reservation, a user can tap a suggestion to create a calendar entry or launch a booking app without leaving the conversation.

NowBrief aggregates useful snippets of information such as sleep quality, weather forecasts, upcoming appointments or podcast recommendations. Users can customise which data points appear on the home screen, keeping the most relevant details at a glance.

My Fancam focuses on video recording. The feature tracks a chosen subject and keeps them centred in the frame, automatically adjusting the composition to reduce shakiness and improve stability.

Enhanced security and warranty tools

Security Brief adds a layer of protection by alerting users to potential malware, apps from unknown sources and unnecessary permission requests. Samsung also uses AI to generate privacy alerts that warn of possible data‑access risks, helping to keep personal information safe.

A new Warranty and Care option appears in Settings, allowing owners to check the warranty status of connected devices and run diagnostic checks on current issues. Most of these capabilities require a Samsung account sign‑in.

How to install the One UI 9 update

The update is delivered automatically to eligible devices. When the download is ready, a notification will appear. Users can also trigger the process manually by opening Settings, selecting Software Update and tapping Download and install. It may be necessary to check for new updates first.

Future rollout plans

Samsung hints that additional Galaxy models will receive One UI 9 in the coming weeks. Expected candidates include the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S24 series, and the Galaxy Z7 lineup. In Thailand, the company confirmed that the S25 and Z7 devices will start receiving the upgrade from 28 September, though the schedule may differ in other markets.

Owners of the Galaxy S23 series should also anticipate One UI 9 as their final major OS upgrade, with the S23 FE slated for rollout by October in Thailand. The Galaxy S22 range has already reached its final version but will continue to receive security patches.
