One UI 9 arrives for Samsung Galaxy flagship devices
Samsung has begun rolling out One UI 9, its customised skin for Android 17, to a select group of Galaxy smartphones. The first stable builds are landing on the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, including the Samsung Galaxy S26, Samsung Galaxy S26+ and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. The update also arrives pre‑installed on the Samsung Galaxy S26 FE and on the foldable lineup – Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8. Owners of these models can now explore a suite of AI‑driven tools and tighter security controls.
AI‑powered features that stand out
NowNudge is an AI‑based assistant that lets users perform context‑sensitive actions directly from a chat window. If a conversation mentions a dinner reservation, a single tap can create a calendar entry or even start a booking flow without leaving the messaging app. NowBrief summarises daily information such as sleep quality, weather forecasts, upcoming appointments or podcast suggestions, and users can choose which data points appear on the home screen. My FanCam focuses on video recording, automatically keeping a chosen subject centred and smoothing camera motion for steadier footage.
Enhanced warranty, care and security
A new Warranty and Care option appears in Settings, allowing users to check the warranty status of connected devices and run diagnostic checks on current issues. Security Brief delivers real‑time alerts about malware, apps from unknown sources and unnecessary permission requests. AI‑generated privacy alerts also warn when an app attempts to access personal data without explicit consent, helping to keep user information safe. Most of these capabilities require a Samsung account sign‑in.
How to install One UI 9
The update is delivered automatically to eligible devices, and a notification will appear when the download is ready. Users can also trigger the process manually by opening Settings, selecting Software Update and tapping Download and install. It may be necessary to check for new updates first, especially on devices that have not yet received the push notification.
Future devices slated for the upgrade
Samsung has hinted that additional Galaxy models will receive One UI 9 in the coming weeks. Expected additions include the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, Samsung Galaxy S24 series, Samsung Galaxy Z7 series and other mid‑range devices. Confirmation is pending, but the company typically expands support shortly after the initial flagship rollout.
Regional rollout notes
In Thailand, Samsung confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S25 and Samsung Galaxy Z7 will start receiving the upgrade from 28 September, though the schedule may differ in other markets. Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S23 can also expect One UI 9 as their final major OS update, with the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE slated for rollout by October in the same region. The Samsung Galaxy S22 range has already reached its final version but will continue to receive security patches.
