Google Pixel 11 vs Pro
Introduction
The latest Google Pixel 11 series has been released, and with it, four new models to choose from: the Pixel 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL, and 11 Pro Fold. While the Pro Fold may appeal to some, the base Pixel 11 model is the most attractive option for me. In this article, we will explore three key reasons why the Pixel 11 stands out from its Pro counterpart.
No HiLight Feature
One of the most significant differences between the Pixel 11 and the Pro model is the lack of the HiLight feature on the base model. HiLight is a customizable light ring around the camera module that creates different patterns depending on who is calling or if the Google Assistant is listening, responding, or carrying out a task. However, this feature feels underwhelming and is not a major loss for the Pixel 11. In fact, the Nothing phone’s similar Glyph lights were a disappointment, and it’s likely that HiLight would be the same. The Pixel 11’s lack of HiLight is a compromise that makes sense, especially considering the phone’s lower price point.
Pistachio Color Option
The Pixel 11 series comes in various colors, including the exclusive Pistachio option on the base model. This earthy green tone is a stunning choice that makes the phone feel at home in nature. In comparison, the Pixel 11 Pro’s equivalent Olive color looks dull and washed out. The Pistachio color is a major selling point for the Pixel 11, and its unique finish makes it a great option for those who want a phone that stands out from the crowd.
Priced to Perfection
The Pixel 11 series has seen a price increase, but the base model is still relatively affordable at £879/$899. This price includes 256GB of storage, making it a better value than the equivalent Pixel 10 model. The Tensor G6 chipset and refreshed cameras also help to justify the price increase. In contrast, the Pixel 11 Pro models are more expensive, with a starting price of £1,079/$1,099. The regular Pixel 11 is the highlight of the lineup, offering a great balance of features and price.
Compromises in the Right Places
While the Pixel 11 may not have all the features of the Pro model, it makes compromises in the right places. The cameras are still capable, and the 6.3-inch display’s resolution is only slightly lower than the Pro. The lack of HiLight and the lower price point make the Pixel 11 an attractive option for those who want a high-quality phone without breaking the bank. The Samsung Galaxy S25 and Apple iPhone 15 may be popular alternatives, but the Pixel 11 is a great choice for those invested in the Google ecosystem.
