The Galaxy Watch 9 is rumoured to have a similar design to its predecessor, with a ‘squircle’ shape and 40mm and 44mm options available. The colours have been given a refresh, with Graphite and Cream available for the smaller model, and Silver and Graphite for the larger variant. In contrast, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is expected to have a single 47mm case size, with Titanium Grey and Titanium Silver colour options.

Release Date and Price

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and Watch 9 are expected to be released in early August, following their unveiling at the Samsung Unpacked event on 22 July. The prices have been leaked, with the Galaxy Watch 9 starting at €409 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 starting at €749. This represents a price increase of €40 and €50 respectively compared to their predecessors.

For UK customers, the prices are expected to be around £350-£400 for the Galaxy Watch 9 and £650-£700 for the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, although these have not been officially confirmed. The Apple Watch Series 11 and the Apple Watch Ultra 3 will be the main competitors to the new Samsung Galaxy Watches.

Specifications and Features

The Galaxy Watch 9 is expected to have a 23% increase in battery capacity, with a 382mAh rated battery that will likely be marketed as having 400mAh capacity. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, on the other hand, is rumoured to have a 30% increase in battery capacity, with a typical capacity of 800mAh. This would allow the watch to run for multiple days at a time.

The new Galaxy Watches will also feature 5G support, with the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 having a unique version with 5G and one with 4G. The watches will also have AI-led health tracking features, with a focus on providing users with personalized health and fitness insights. The Samsung Health app will be updated to take advantage of the new features and improvements in the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and Watch 9.

In comparison to other smartwatches, such as the Fitbit Air and the Garmin Forerunner 955, the new Samsung Galaxy Watches will offer a more comprehensive set of features and improvements. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will also compete with the Apple Watch Ultra 3, which features a similar set of specifications and features.
