Googlebook Laptop Leaked
Googlebook Laptop Initiative
Google has recently unveiled its new Googlebook initiative, which promises to merge its Android and Chrome OS platforms in new premium laptop hardware from top brands such as Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. The leaked images of the Lenovo Googlebook 15 have given us the best look at a Googlebook laptop yet.
The Lenovo Googlebook 15 seems to be shaping up like a fairly typical laptop, with a couple of telling bonus details. On the keyboard, between the fn key and the alt key, can be seen a dedicated key marked with a Google ‘G’, which is expected to be used to access Gemini’s powerful assistance features. Another interesting feature has seemingly been brought across from the Chromebook: a single key for handling the launcher and caps lock functions.
Lenovo Googlebook 15 Hardware Specs
The Lenovo Googlebook 15 has a decent selection of ports, including a full-size HDMI port, two USB-C ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a full-size USB-A port. At the top of the device, we see a sort of inverted notch sticking out above the natural outline of the laptop, which promises to provide a solid webcam without eating into the display like a MacBook. There’s even a sliding privacy shutter for blocking that camera off.
Other points of hardware interest include a neat ridged finish to the bottom edge, as well as what seems to be a four-speaker set-up. Together with a Dolby Atmos badge, it suggests that these things should sound pretty good. The hinge can open the display out to an impressive 157.5 degrees, suggesting that the Lenovo Googlebook 15 will be able to lie almost completely flat.
Googlebook and Productivity
The presence of an Adobe Premiere Pro app icon on the Lenovo Googlebook 15 seems to indicate that Google is really pushing for its latest laptops to be taken seriously among the productivity crowd. With the likes of the Apple iPad Air M2 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9, Google will need to ensure that its Googlebook laptops can compete in terms of performance and features.
In comparison to other laptops on the market, such as the Dell XPS 15 or the HP Envy 14, the Lenovo Googlebook 15 seems to be holding its own. With its unique features and Gemini AI driving things along, it will be interesting to see how the Googlebook initiative fares in the UK market.
