Google Pixel 11 Pre-Orders

Google is set to announce its new flagship phone series, the Google Pixel 11, today, Wednesday 12 August at 6pm ET/11pm GMT at its Made by Google keynote in New York. The new line of phones and devices from Google has been heavily leaked, but that’s a good thing, as pre-orders for the new devices will open long before the Made by Google event starts.

If you head over to the Google Store, you’ll see a timer counting down the hours until 11am ET/3pm GMT on Wednesday, when you can get your order in. This is a huge, seven-hour difference, which is unusual. Typically, new tech would go up for pre-order as the launch event starts, which often lines up with the embargo lifting (when we’re allowed to tell you all the news). But Google is happy for you to purchase the Google Pixel 11 before it’s even been announced on stage.

Discount Codes

You may even have a discount code available already. According to 9to5Google, Google has emailed out discount codes ahead of the launch. Typically, these have a value of $150, although some users seem to have been offered as much as $250 – or as little as $100. These can be stacked with store credit or any other vouchers you might have, but not with other offers. If you find a voucher in your inbox, you’ll have until 27 August to use it.

New Devices

We expect four phones to launch: the base model Google Pixel 11, the Google Pixel 11 Pro, the Google Pixel 11 Pro XL and the Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Google will also be launching a new Google Pixel Watch 5, a new colour option for its flagship Google Pixel Buds Pro earbuds and a Google Pixel Tag tracker.

All phone models are expected to start with 256GB of storage (making expected price rises less painful for the two cheapest models) and there’s a brand-new feature coming: HiLight. It’s an indicator light set in the camera flash that glows to alert you when a favourite contact gets in touch or when you interact with Gemini.

Colour Options

The regular Google Pixel 11 is expected to come in four colour options: Midnight Haze, Light Sterling, Moss and Fuchsia (the colours themselves are assured but the names of the colours are from leaks and not confirmed). Meanwhile, the Pro models will come with slightly different options, including the hero Dune colours (or Canyon) and an all-new matt black finish.

Price Rises

The not-so-great news is that Google has already confirmed year-on-year price rises across the board – but if you’re planning on buying any new phone this year, you should expect that anyway thanks to the ongoing RAM shortage. Google hasn’t confirmed exactly by how much it’ll be hiking its prices, but leaks suggest a £100/$100 rise on each model is likely, so budget for that.
