Android 17 Update: Which UK Smartphones Will Get It?
The latest Android 17 update is set to be released in June 2026, bringing exciting new features to Android users in the UK. But will your phone be eligible for the update? Find out below.
Since 2025, smartphone manufacturers have been required to provide updates for their devices for at least five years. This means that many devices will still be supported, but some will be dropped from the update cycle this year.
Our overview reveals which smartphones will still be updated and receive Android 17, sorted by manufacturer and including links to key reviews. Please note that some manufacturers make clear statements regarding planned update periods, while others only adhere roughly to the EU directive.
Google Pixel smartphones will be the first to receive the Android 17 update, thanks to Google’s extended update guarantee. Every phone that received Android 16 will get the new update, including the Pixel 10a, Pixel 10, and Pixel 10 Pro.
Samsung also provides updates for its current smartphones for longer than required. The top-of-the-range models now receive up to seven generations of Android upgrades, while some A-series models receive at least six generations.
Xiaomi isn’t always clear about its update promises, but many current devices are likely to be part of the update cycle. Xiaomi is expected to deliver Android 17 to devices like the 17, 15, and 14 series.
Honor is another manufacturer that provides Android updates for its devices for a long period, with the update cycle being up to seven years for flagship models. These Honor smartphones are likely to receive the update to Android 17, including the Honor Magic 8 and Honor Magic V6.
OnePlus makes clear update promises for most of its devices, but older models fall outside the update cycle. These OnePlus smartphones are expected to receive Android 17, including the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus 13.
Oppo’s chances of most newer smartphones receiving the update to Android 17 are also good, but older Reno or Find models will soon fall out of support. These Oppo smartphones are expected to receive Android 17, including the Find N6 and Find X9.
Motorola is a slightly trickier case, with the company claiming to have found a ‘loophole’ in the EU requirement. However, these Motorola smartphones are highly likely to receive Android 17, including the Signature and Edge 70.
Nothing, or CMF, adheres to a clear principle when it comes to specifying available Android updates, with all models receiving at least three major Android updates. These devices are expected to receive Android 17, including the Phone 4a and Phone 3a.
Sony is particularly transparent about which smartphones will continue to receive Android updates. These devices will receive Android 17, including the Xperia 10 VII and Xperia 1 VII.
Realme does not provide very specific details about upcoming updates, but is expected to release Android 17 for devices like the Realme 14 and Realme GT 8.
Asus announced that it would not be producing any new smartphones, but existing models will still receive updates. These Asus smartphones are expected to receive the update to Android 17, including the ROG Phone 9 Pro and Zenfone 12 Ultra.
If your smartphone no longer receives major Android updates, don’t panic. Manufacturers provide a set number of updates, but minor updates and security updates are independent of the Android 17 update. Check if your device is still receiving general support, and consider buying a new smartphone if it’s not.
