Asus V16 gaming laptop review

The new gaming laptops are in the market, But this laptop has an old GPU, ASUS V16. It used to be Nitro V16, I will also keep it. And this laptop is priced at Rs 82,000. And it has a new processor, Intel Core 5.

It’s not called Ultra. Intel has also made a mess with Intel Core Ultra. V, H, are different, HX are upcoming. Now it’s Core 5. How will they take care of it? Don’t worry, I will make a laptop buying guide post. Let all the processors come. Because I have heard that there will be a lot of AMD processors.

Laptop category and uses of this laptop

So I will have to understand it first. And yes, let’s talk about this laptop. It’s a thin category gaming laptop. And how much value for money it has, Which is good & which is bad. And most importantly, we will compare it with a competitive laptop. Which is offering better things at a lower price than this at this time in the market. So, I am not opening the box. You will get a laptop like this in the box. Along with it.

You will get a 150W power adapter and a power cord. It’s a basic unboxing. And if you look at the look of the laptop, It follows the same pattern as VivoBook. And it is US military grade certified. So if it falls, it won’t break. Don’t drop it. Laptop is a very big thing. And if anything breaks, it will be a problem. It’s working, right? Yes, it’s working.

The laptop is fully polycarbonate. And it has ASUS branding on the top lid. And the top lid has a fingerprint magnet. You can see that it is holding a lot of fingerprints. And the cleanliness that you will get in a new laptop after using it for a while, You will feel that it has become old now The weight distribution of the laptop is good. The top lid opens by itself. And it goes up to a maximum of 180 degrees. And we get a good screen bobble. The keyboard flex is not that much. And we get a little bit of top lid flex.

The back of the laptop is like this. There are not many vents for the intakes. We will see about the thermals in gaming later. The laptop weighs 1.9 kgs. And if you include the charger, it becomes 2.3-2.4 kgs. And the overall look of the laptop is very basic. It doesn’t have a new feel as compared to the new series that they introduced. So I was expecting a little better. Its decent.

Processor and specification wise Asus Gaming V16

We have the Core 5 variant. And it also has the Core 7 variant which is not listed anywhere. We were getting this, so we ordered it. And let’s talk about the specifications. It has Intel Core 5 processor 210H. And it has 8 cores, 12 threads. 4P cores, 4E cores. And if we compare it with the 12th and 13th generation.

The i5 version of 12450H and 13420H is slightly upgraded. If you compare it with Cinema 423, The numbers of Core 5 in multi-core and single-core are better compared to 13420 and 12450H. And it has 512GB Gen 4 SSD which doesn’t give the actual speed of Gen 4. But it gives good speeds, around 5000 read speed and 2800 write speed.

After that, it comes with 13500H which obviously performs better compared to this one. It has 16GB DDR5 RAM with 5200 Mt/s per second. It’s in single channel. You will get 1 slot for free. The laptop can be upgraded up to 32GB. It can also be upgraded up to 64GB. The brand hasn’t mentioned it, it’s just my guess. The GPU is NVIDIA RTX 4050. It’s a thin laptop, so the wattage is low. It comes with 65W TGP.

It has only 1 slot. So you will have to swap to upgrade. And it doesn’t have any micro SD card slot. You can put an SD card in it and do some expansion. So this is a good drawback. In connectivity, you will get Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth version 5.3. You get MS office 2024 for lifetime which is a good thing. And 3 months Xbox game pass.

So you can enjoy game sims on day 1 with Xbox game pass. Now let’s talk about the performance. First of all, it has a synthetic benchmark with Cinebench R23 scores. You can see the numbers of Cinebench 2024. Then we have Geekbench 6 for CPU.

You can conclude the performance of the CPU here. You can consider it as an upgrade variant of i5. And there is no issue in coding. You can easily handle music production software. Then coming on to AI performance. In this, we have Geekbench 6 AI benchmark on CPU and GPU. So the dedicated GPU performs better. And since it’s a DGPU laptop, you will get good AI performance. No matter what task you are going to do. And for overall productivity, it has a PCMARK 10 score of 6000+.

Multitasking and benchmarks test

So in multitasking, day to day tasks or any office work, the laptop won’t be a problem. For overall productivity, there is a benchmark of Crossmark, but it didn’t run in it. Maybe because it’s the latest processor. Then comes the GPU performance. Firstly, we have Blender benchmark of 4050 with 65W.

According to that, it scored around 2300. And in Blender, we rendered BMW through GPU. And it took only 30 seconds. So if I conclude the GPU performance here, You can handle any entry level tasks like after effects, 3D modeling, rendering.
