Since the March Pixel Drop, owners of the Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 smartphones have been experiencing a mysterious battery drain issue, with some devices dying prematurely. Despite Google’s claims of having fixed the bug in the July update, many users are still reporting problems.

The issue, which affects the Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 series, has been a source of frustration for many. While Google’s IssueTracker lists the problem as ‘Fixed’, the lack of specific mention in the July Pixel update changelog has raised doubts about the effectiveness of the fix.

Continued Battery Drain Issues

Reports of excessive battery drain have continued to flood in, with many taking to the Google Pixel Reddit page to share their experiences. This is not an isolated issue, as numerous bugs have plagued the Pixel series in recent months. The rollout of Android 17 last month also brought a new set of bugs, affecting devices like the Samsung Galaxy S25 and Apple Watch Series 10.

For those affected, the wait for a proper fix continues. Pixel 8a and Pixel 9a owners will have to wait until the September Quarterly Platform Release for their own fix. In the meantime, users are advised to monitor their battery usage and adjust their settings accordingly, much like they would on an iPad Air M2 or other devices.
