Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and S24 Ultra Hit with Triple Whammy of Update Bugs
The rollout of Samsung’s July One UI update has not gone as planned for many Galaxy S25 Ultra and S24 Ultra owners in the UK. Just days after installing the update, numerous users are reporting significant software-related issues, including severe battery drain, overheating, and slower charging speeds.
According to reports on the Samsung Community forums, the battery life of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has been severely affected, with some users experiencing a drop from 85% to just over 5% in under 12 hours, despite only 2 hours and 9 minutes of active usage. Similarly, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has also been reported to suffer from massive battery drain, with comments on the Samsung Community forums and Reddit threads suggesting that the issue is widespread.
Potential Fixes for Battery Drain
Some users have suggested potential fixes for the battery drain issue, including clearing the cache partition, putting unused apps into deep sleep mode, and running safe mode to isolate the offending app. Additionally, turning battery protection to maximum, ensuring wireless power sharing is off, and disabling nearby device scanning and RAM Plus settings may also help.
Overheating Issues with Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra
Another significant problem reported by Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra users is overheating. One user reported that their device becomes very hot even when not in use, and a moderator suggested disabling Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and other connectivity features, reducing screen brightness, closing or uninstalling suspected apps, reducing demanding gaming sessions, and not using the phone while charging.
Slower Charging Speeds on Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
To make matters worse, some Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra users have reported slower charging speeds, with one user claiming that a full charge now takes as high as three hours, compared to the usual 70 minutes. The issue is believed to be related to the One UI 8.5 update, although it is unclear if the July patch has made the situation worse.
It is ironic that an update designed to fix Android flaws has introduced its own set of problems. Samsung needs to address these issues as soon as possible, rather than waiting for the August update or later. In the meantime, users can try the suggested fixes and hope that the company will release a patch to resolve the problems with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and S24 Ultra.
