Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8: Everything we know so far
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 is set to be released on 22 July, according to Samsung’s official announcement. The Galaxy Unpacked event will take place in London and will also feature the Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide), Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Watch 9, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to start at £1,149 or €1,299 for the base 256GB model, making it the cheapest of Samsung’s 2026 foldable phones. The phone is rumoured to have a slimmer and more lightweight design, with a slightly smaller thickness of 13.2mm when folded.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to feature a more powerful version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, which could provide a serious leap in power for Samsung’s flip phone. The phone may also have almost identical cameras to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, with a 50Mp wide-angle and 12Mp ultrawide lens.
The battery life of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to be similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, with a 4,300mAh cell that can be drained fairly quickly under intense use. The charging speed is also expected to remain the same, at 25W over a wired connection.
In comparison to other smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8’s battery life and charging speed may be outdone by mid-range phones like the Google Pixel 10a, which has 30W wired and 15W wireless charging. Even the Samsung Galaxy A57, which is a fraction of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7’s price, boasts a 45W speed over a wired connection.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to be a refined and more powerful version of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, with a slimmer design and improved performance. However, the lack of attention to the battery and charging speeds may be a disappointment for some users.
