Android 17 Update: Which UK Smartphones Will Receive the Latest Upgrade
Android 17 Update: What You Need to Know
Android 17, the latest update to Google’s operating system, is expected to be released in June 2026, bringing exciting new features for Android users in the UK. But is your phone in line to get it? Find out below.
Since 2025, smartphone manufacturers have been obligated to provide updates for their devices for at least five years. That means that the list is quite similar to that for Android 16. However, some devices will still be dropped from the update cycle this year.
Our overview reveals which smartphones will still be updated and will also receive Android 17. It’s sorted by manufacturer and includes links to our key reviews. Note: Some manufacturers make clear statements regarding the planned update periods for their devices.
Others only adhere roughly to the EU directive. So please treat this information with caution, as things can always change at short notice. Google Pixel will be the first to release an update to Android 17, as it doesn’t need to make any adjustments for its own Pixel smartphones.
Thanks to Google’s extended update guarantee, every phone that received Android 16 will get the new update. These Google smartphones are expected to receive the update to Android 17: Pixel 10a, Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a.
Samsung also provides updates for its current smartphones for longer than is legally required. The top-of-the-range models now receive up to seven generations of Android upgrades, while some A-series models receive at least six generations. Precise details are missing for some budget models.
However, as far as we know, these Samsung smartphones should receive Android 17: Galaxy S26 / S26 Plus / S26 Ultra, Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy S25 Edge, Galaxy S25 / S25 Plus / S25 Ultra, Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy S24 / S24 Plus / S24 Ultra, Galaxy S23 / S23 Plus / S23 Ultra, Galaxy A17, Galaxy A16, Galaxy A25, Galaxy A26, Galaxy A36, Galaxy A56, Galaxy A35, Galaxy A55, Galaxy A54, Galaxy A34, Galaxy M54, Galaxy M35, Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5.
Xiaomi isn’t always clear about its own update promises. However, there are still many current devices that are likely to be part of the update cycle. Xiaomi is therefore expected to deliver Android 17 to the following devices: 17 / Pro / Pro Max / Ultra, 15 / Pro / Ultra, 15T, 14 / Pro / Ultra, 14 T / 14 T Pro, 13T / Pro, Redmi Note 15 / Pro, Redmi Note 14 / Pro, Poco X7, Poco X7 Pro, Poco X6 5G, Poco X6 Pro, Poco F6 / Pro, Poco M7, Poco M7 Pro, Mix Fold 4, Mix Flip.
Honor is another manufacturer that provides Android updates for its devices for a long period. The update cycle here is up to seven years, though this mainly applies to flagship models. These Honor smartphones are likely to receive the update to Android 17: Honor Magic 8 / Pro / Lite, Honor Magic V6, Honor Magic V5, Honor 400 / Pro, Honor 200 / Pro / Lite / Smart, Honor Magic 6 / Pro, Honor Magic 7 / Pro / Lite, Honor Magic V Flip.
OnePlus makes quite clear update promises for most of its devices. Older models, however, fall outside the update cycle. These OnePlus smartphones are expected to receive Android 17: OnePlus 15, OnePlus 15R, OnePlus 13, OnePlus 13R, OnePlus 12, OnePlus 12R, OnePlus 11 5G, OnePlus Open, OnePlus Nord 4.
Oppo is also expected to deliver Android 17 to several devices, including Find N6, Find X9 / Pro, A5 5G / 5G Pro, A40, Reno 15 / Pro, Reno 14 / Pro, Reno 13 / Pro / F / FS, Find X8 / Pro, Find X7 / Ultra. Motorola, on the other hand, is a slightly trickier case, as it claims to have found a ‘loophole’ in the EU regulation requiring them to provide at least five years of updates.
Nothing, or CMF, takes an unconventional approach to the design of its smartphones, but adheres to a clear principle when it comes to specifying available Android updates. All models receive at least three major Android updates. Sony is particularly transparent about which smartphones will continue to receive Android updates, and these devices will receive Android 17: Xperia 10 VII, Xperia 10 VI, Xperia 1 VII, Xperia 1 VI.
Realme does not provide very specific details about upcoming updates, but is expected to release Android 17 for the following models: Realme 14 / Pro / Pro, Realme 13 / Pro / Pro, Realme GT 8 / Pro, Realme GT 7 / Pro, Realme GT 6 / Pro. Asus announced in early 2026 that it would not be producing any new smartphones for the time being, but existing models will still receive updates, including ROG Phone 9 Pro, ROG Phone 8 / 8 Pro, Zenfone 12 Ultra, Zenfone 11 Ultra.
If your smartphone no longer receives major Android updates, don’t panic. Manufacturers provide a set number of updates that include new features and improvements. However, there are also minor updates and important security updates that are independent of the Android 17 update.
So, if your device isn’t on the list of models set to receive Android 17, it’s best to check straight away whether it’s still receiving general support, so that issues and security vulnerabilities continue to be addressed. If that isn’t the case, you might want to consider buying a new smartphone.
