Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2 Pro Review: A Budget Premium Tablet
The Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2 Pro is an excellent prosumer Android tablet for a very affordable price, starting at just £299. It features a huge 12,000mAh battery, a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, and an optional Matte Glass model with a 2.5K resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate.
One of the standout features of the Redmi Pad 2 Pro is its gorgeous optional Matte Display, which provides a paper-like look and feel to the screen. This feature is rare, with most brands not even providing it as an optional extra. The Matte Glass Version is particularly interesting, and it’s the one I’ve been testing.
The Redmi Pad 2 Pro also comes with a set of quad speakers, which sound great, especially with the Dolby Atmos mode enabled. Performance from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor is generally smooth, and the battery life is impressive, with even an hour of streaming video only using a few percent of juice.
However, there are some downsides to the Redmi Pad 2 Pro, including basic cameras and limited brightness. The ‘Pro’ moniker might also lead to false pretences in some areas, as it’s not powerful enough for very demanding tasks.
Overall, the Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2 Pro is a great option for those looking for an affordable tablet with premium features. If you’re particularly looking for an Android tablet with a huge battery and a matte-finish display, then this is the best on the market right now. Alternatively, you could consider the Samsung Galaxy Tab A11+ or the iPad Air M2.
