Garmin Cirqa vs Fitbit Air: UK Fitness Trackers Face Off

A descriptive image of the Garmin Cirqa and Fitbit Air fitness trackers, showcasing their sleek designs and features, with a focus on the UK fitness tracking market and the latest advancements in screenless fitness tracking technology

UK Fitness Trackers: Garmin Cirqa and Fitbit Air Set to Clash

The UK fitness tracking scene is abuzz with the impending launch of the Garmin Cirqa, but a recent rumour suggests it may lack a crucial feature to compete with the Fitbit Air. The Cirqa’s alleged absence of built-in GPS tracking and ANT+ support has raised eyebrows, as these features are essential for serious fitness enthusiasts. In the UK, where fitness tracking is a growing trend, this could be a significant drawback for the Cirqa.

Garmin’s strategy to pair the Cirqa with existing Garmin watches may be a clever move, but it remains to be seen how this will play out in the UK market. The Fitbit Air, on the other hand, has the backing of Google’s AI technology, which could give it an edge in terms of behaviour tracking and colour-coded insights. As the UK fitness tracking market continues to evolve, it’s clear that Garmin and Fitbit are gearing up for a fierce battle.

The absence of ANT+ support on the Cirqa is particularly surprising, given Garmin’s reputation for producing high-quality fitness trackers with advanced features. This could be a missed opportunity for Garmin to differentiate itself from the competition and analyse user behaviour more effectively. In the UK, where consumers are increasingly demanding more from their fitness trackers, this could be a significant blow to the Cirqa’s chances of success.

Despite these concerns, the Garmin Cirqa is still an exciting prospect for UK fitness enthusiasts. Its ability to automatically track workouts without manual input is a significant advantage, and its sleek design is sure to appeal to those who value style as well as substance. As the UK fitness tracking market continues to grow, it’s likely that we’ll see more innovative features and technologies emerge, and the Cirqa is certainly one to watch.

The UK’s fitness tracking community is eagerly awaiting the official launch of the Garmin Cirqa, and it will be interesting to see how it stacks up against the Fitbit Air. With its impressive features and sleek design, the Cirqa is certainly a contender, but it remains to be seen whether it can compete with the might of Google’s AI technology. One thing is certain, however: the UK fitness tracking scene is about to get a whole lot more interesting.

In conclusion, the Garmin Cirqa is a promising new entrant in the UK fitness tracking market, but its lack of built-in GPS tracking and ANT+ support may hinder its chances of success. As the market continues to evolve, it’s likely that we’ll see more innovative features and technologies emerge, and the Cirqa is certainly one to watch. With its sleek design and automatic workout tracking, it’s an exciting prospect for UK fitness enthusiasts, and it will be interesting to see how it competes with the Fitbit Air in the months to come.

Garmin Cirqa Review UK

Garmin Cirqa smart band on wrist

Garmin Cirqa after two weeks: 3 key learnings

I’ve had my hands on the Garmin Cirqa smart band for just over two weeks. It follows the Whoop Strap and Fitbit Air, both of which I’ve used extensively, meaning it has tough competition in the booming screenless fitness tracker market.

Given that both Whoop and Garmin attract the uber-sporty and fitness-focused among us, it was only a matter of time before the latter would try to nudge in on the action and go head to head with a distraction-free device that would allow users to shut out the noise and think solely of the workout ahead of them.

In hindsight, there was a lot of conflicting rumours about the Garmin Cirqa in the run-up to launch, including one that it was going to be five times the cost of the Fitbit Air, which simply wasn’t true in the end (or Garmin at least saw the outrage and reconsidered). Even after the initial launch event, which I attended, I still wasn’t fully sure what the Cirqa had to offer.

Now some proper testing time is under my belt, I have a much more concrete understanding of what it’s all about and whether it’s a worthy rival to the Fitbit Air and other screenless fitness trackers. In that time, while I work on a full review, I’ve learned three key things…

This is the fix to Garmin’s automatic tracking woes

One of the biggest problems Garmin watches have had is their near-complete inability to automatically track workouts, something that competitors like the Apple Watch Series 11 and the Pixel Watch 4 can do with ease. Thankfully, it’s one area where the Garmin Cirqa doesn’t seem to struggle.

I regularly take walks into my local town centre either to pick up some shopping or head for the nearest cafe to do some work, but those jaunts have previously gone unrecorded by my Garmin Venu X1, despite its high-end price.

With the Cirqa in tow, however, the Garmin Connect app now recognises those walks, which aren’t insignificant as they feature quite a few hills.

I also find it helpful on days when I don’t have time to get down to the gym and those walks are the only exercise I get, as it makes it feel less like I’ve just been sat around at my desk all day when I look back at my results. In other words, I’ll take the win.

More comfortable than it looks

One thing that has surprised me quite a bit is how divisive the Garmin Cirqa’s size has turned out to be. When putting out a quick video of me wearing the device to social media, I was flooded with comments asking about the size of my wrist, and others lamenting that the Cirqa looks massive.

Granted, the Cirqa is a bit bigger than the Fitbit Air (see above), but as someone who wore a Whoop Strap for years, I find the two to be mostly indistinguishable. I have the slightly larger L-XL strap too, but I’ve never found the Cirqa to sit uncomfortably.

I love the button (with one caveat)

Easily one of the best features of the Cirqa is its physical button, which allows you to either start or stop a workout instantly. This is something distinctly missing from rivals like the Fitbit Air.

For when I’m strapped for time and just want to get straight into the action, it’s brilliant. The problem I’ve discovered is that the process isn’t quite so seamless if you want to record the right information.

Because I jump between several types of workouts through the week, I haven’t changed the default mode wherein the Cirqa tracks a ‘Timed Activity’, but as a result, this means that Garmin’s smart band hasn’t tracked the distance I’ve covered, either on a run or when swimming at our local pool.

In order to make sure that the right information is assessed, you need to pre-select the workout you’re about to do in the Garmin Connect app. It’s a definite caveat to the push button as it means the process isn’t as instantaneous as you’d hope.

Still, there’s a lot to like about the Garmin Cirqa and I’ll bring you my full thoughts and a score in a full review soon.

Garmin Fenix E UK Prime Day Deal: Over £200 Off the Premium Smartwatch

Garmin Fenix E smartwatch displayed on a wrist with its AMOLED screen showing a map

Garmin Fenix E Hits Record Low Price in the UK for Prime Day

Multisport smartwatches have become essential gear for runners, cyclists, walkers and anyone keen on tracking fitness. They log training data, aid navigation and deliver health metrics such as heart‑rate, sleep analysis and stress monitoring. Among the long‑standing favourites, the Garmin Fenix range has consistently appealed to outdoor enthusiasts.

The Garmin Fenix E, housed in a 47 mm case, is now listed on Amazon UK for £315.02, a steep cut from the manufacturer’s recommended retail price of £529.99. That equates to a saving of almost £215, or 41 %, making it the cheapest Amazon price ever recorded for this model.

Customer feedback is strong – the watch holds an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars from 113 reviews. The discount applies to the Slate Grey/Black version; the stainless‑steel variant remains priced at £396.06, which is less compelling.

The offer is part of Amazon’s four‑day Prime Day event, which runs until 26 June, but the specific Fenix E price expires on 24 June for UK shoppers. If you’re based in the United States, the deal does not apply, though comparable discounts are available on other Garmin models.

What makes the Garmin Fenix E stand out? It sports a 1.3‑inch AMOLED display that delivers richer colours and higher contrast than traditional MIP screens – a benefit when reading maps, training stats or notifications. Users can navigate via the touchscreen or the familiar Garmin side buttons.

Garmin pre‑installs more than 80 sports and outdoor apps, covering running, cycling, fitness and a host of adventure activities. The ecosystem is bolstered by training plans, readiness scores, recovery insights and workload management tools.

Health‑tracking is comprehensive. The watch continuously measures wrist‑based heart‑rate, provides detailed sleep analysis, monitors stress levels and even records respiratory rate, helping users gauge daily recovery and overall wellbeing.

Navigation is a core strength of the Fenix series. The Fenix E comes with pre‑loaded TopoActive maps for Europe, and additional maps can be downloaded over Wi‑Fi. Dynamic route suggestions and GPS navigation are handy for hikers, trail runners and long‑distance cyclists who prefer to leave their phone behind.

Other notable features include contactless payments, on‑watch music playback, Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi connectivity, and a generous 16 GB of storage. The device is waterproof and built to withstand a wide range of weather conditions.

Battery life is impressive: Garmin claims up to 16 days in smartwatch mode and up to 42 hours in GPS mode, though real‑world performance will vary with usage, display settings and active features.

If you crave even more capabilities, the Garmin Fenix 8 is also on Prime Day for £567.15, a 28 % discount off its £789.99 RRP. The Fenix 8 adds a built‑in LED torch, ECG, direct call functionality and water resistance to 40 metres, but it sits roughly £200 above the Fenix E price point. The Fenix 8 Pro and the larger 51 mm version also enjoy the same 28 % discount.

For most UK shoppers, the Fenix E offers the best balance of price and performance. It delivers mapping, an AMOLED screen, extensive training tools and solid battery life without the premium price tag of the newer models.

At £315, the Garmin Fenix E is at its lowest ever price, well below the original RRP. Reviewers consistently praise the refreshed software, detailed map displays that highlight terrain features and mountain huts, and the robust navigation suite. Health and training metrics also receive strong mentions. While some users previously balked at the near‑£600 price tag, the current discount makes the watch an exceptionally compelling buy.

Garmin Cirqa: Is the UK’s New Fitness Tracker Worth the Hefty Price Tag?

The Garmin Cirqa, a screenless fitness tracker with a sleek design, is displayed on a wrist, showcasing its premium features and functionality, a key player in the UK's fitness tracker scene.

Garmin Cirqa: A Premium Fitness Tracker with a Hefty Price Tag

The Garmin Cirqa, a screenless fitness tracker, has been making waves in the UK with its rumored price tag of £378, which is significantly higher than its competitors, including the Fitbit Air, priced at £84.99. This substantial difference in price has sparked debate about whether the Cirqa is worth the investment.

The Ukrainian retailer Stylus Store has listed the Garmin Cirqa at a whopping 22,399 UAH, which roughly translates to £378. Although there is a pre-order offer available at 19,999 UAH, the price remains steep. For context, the Fitbit Air, a key rival in the screenless band tracker market, is priced at a budget-friendly £84.99.

Garmin’s pricing strategy is uncertain, given their presence in the affordable, mid-range, and premium sectors of the market. The company may be looking to position the Cirqa as a high-end device, but its price could be a major drawback. The Fitbit Air, for instance, offers a range of features without requiring a Google Health Premium subscription, making it an attractive option for those seeking a more affordable alternative.

In comparison, the Whoop Strap, a popular choice among professional athletes, has a non-negotiable subscription starting at £169 per year. However, the accompanying app provides a wealth of metrics and stats, making it a valuable investment for those who engage with the device regularly. The Garmin Cirqa will need to offer something unique to justify its premium price tag, especially considering its lack of screen and smart functionality.

The Apple Watch Series 11 and Samsung Galaxy Watch 8, both of which offer more features and functionality, are priced at £399 and £319, respectively. If the Garmin Cirqa is to be considered a premium device, it will need to boast killer features to warrant the price. As the UK’s fitness enthusiasts await the release of the Garmin Cirqa, one thing is certain – the device’s price will be a major factor in its success.

Only time will tell if the Garmin Cirqa will live up to its hype and price tag. As the market continues to evolve, one thing is clear: the UK’s fitness tracker scene is becoming increasingly competitive, with each brand striving to outdo the others in terms of features, price, and overall value.

With the Garmin Cirqa’s rumored price tag and features, it will be interesting to see how it stacks up against its competitors. Will the device’s unique features and premium design be enough to justify its hefty price tag, or will it struggle to find its place in the UK’s crowded fitness tracker market? The answer remains to be seen, but one thing is certain – the Garmin Cirqa is sure to generate plenty of buzz in the world of fitness and technology.

In conclusion, the Garmin Cirqa’s price tag has sparked a heated debate about its value and place in the market. As the UK’s fitness enthusiasts weigh their options, it is essential to consider the device’s features, price, and overall value. Whether or not the Garmin Cirqa will be a success remains to be seen, but one thing is certain – it will be an interesting ride.

The UK’s fitness tracker market is evolving rapidly, with new devices and features emerging all the time. As consumers, it is essential to stay informed and up-to-date on the latest developments and trends. With the Garmin Cirqa’s release on the horizon, it will be exciting to see how it impacts the market and whether it will be a game-changer or just another device in a crowded field.

Ultimately, the decision to purchase the Garmin Cirqa will depend on individual preferences and needs. For those seeking a high-end fitness tracker with advanced features, the Cirqa may be an attractive option. However, for those on a budget or seeking a more affordable alternative, there are plenty of other options available in the UK market.

The Garmin Cirqa’s price tag may be steep, but it is essential to consider the device’s overall value and features.
