Honor Tipped to Launch iPhone Ultra Rival with Class-Leading Battery

Honor, the former Huawei sub-brand, is preparing to take on Apple’s iPhone Ultra with a new wide foldable device. According to recent reports, the device will feature a 7.6-inch inner screen and a 5.5-inch outer screen, similar to the Apple iPhone Ultra and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide).

The device will be equipped with a 200Mp main camera and a periscope telephoto secondary camera, which could provide a point of contrast with rival devices from Apple and Samsung. The Honor wide foldable will also feature a sizeable 7000mAh battery, which is significantly larger than the batteries found in other foldable devices, including the iPhone Ultra.

Performance and Battery Life

The device will be powered by a next-gen Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip, which is expected to provide fast performance and efficient battery life. The large battery and efficient chip could give the iPhone Ultra a run for its money, especially if Honor can launch its device globally and undercut the pricing of its rivals.

In comparison, the Apple iPhone Ultra is expected to feature a battery with a capacity of under 6000mAh. However, Apple’s device may still be able to compete with the Honor wide foldable thanks to software optimisations. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide) is also expected to feature a large battery, but its exact capacity has not been confirmed.

Availability and Pricing

The Honor wide foldable is expected to launch after the release of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip, which is likely to happen at the end of September. If Honor can launch its device globally and offer competitive pricing, it could be a significant threat to the iPhone Ultra and other foldable devices, including the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the iPad Air M2.
