Honor MagicPad 2 Tablet Unboxing and My Honest Review

Thinking about the honor magic pad 2 before you decide let’s dive into the top three reasons to buy and the top three reasons you might want to pass whether it’s the Display, Speakers, Gaming or a few potential drawbacks, I’ve got you covered reason number one would be the display.

DISPLAY

The magic pad 2 has a 12.3 in AMOLED display and That’s running up to 144 HZ. It has a PP of 290 and this is my first tablet that I’ve actually reviewed that has an all the display so that’s quite exciting we also get IMAX enhanced display, So that’s going to make all your media consumption look that extra bit better first we’ll quickly unbox the Magic Pencil 3 so we get spare tip along with a quick start guide and World quad and then the pen is a simple design white with the honor branding on the top and a flat Edge for The magnetic connection to the tablet and It has a nice weight to it I do like the more heavier pins. So, it snaps on magnetically to the top of the tablet pops up with the pairing request straight away and through this connection it’ll be able to charge the pen. Also, you can see it attaches nicely so it’ll be good enough for bit of Shak here and there but obviously, if you do too much it’s going to fall off for YouTube, we have 4K 60 FPS HDR support and the videos run absolutely fine, No problem there.

HDR content on an OLED panel at this size looks absolutely amazing the colors are nice and Rich there’s really good contrast between the lights and darks and you can see the nice Inky black Darks of an old display and it really is a joy to what content with such a display for me. It’s easily the best display out of all the tablets that are reviewed so no matter what it is you’re viewing on this tablet it’s all going to look really good on Netflix we get wide one level one support with full HD playback and HDR is supported also and as usual my rck MTI example viewing angles are okay typical behavior of an AMOLED panel which has the additional TFT layer so you’re going to get some shifting of color temperature at certain angles outside the screen does well in brighter lighting conditions, I mean in direct sunlight you’re obviously going to get quite a bit of problem but just generally. Outside the screen was more than legible, So absolutely fine there because of the 1600 nits’ Peak brightness. So, we’ll test out the Magic Pen 3 quick look in the settings and we have feature such a double tap to switch, which allows you to switch between the current tool and eraser.

You can also customize the floating menu, as you please, I’m going to start off with some simple writing and so far, so good Palm rejection is supported. As I’m resting my hand on the screen here and pressure sensitivity is supported also and works well as I press hard up with this pencil and it draws the line darkle latency is good with minimal lag as we can see in the slow down footage and Then filling out intricate forms is a breeze in this example of a PDF form so you’re going to have no problem filling out forms on this tablet. Reason number two would be the speakers and the magic pad 2 has eight speakers in total and supports 100° Ultra wide sound field. If we have a look in the settings, we can enable that and from here and then you can pick from sound St say Auto standard vocals music, Movie and Game. So whichever one is best for me the speakers were really good really quite loud, They have good amount of depth to them facial audio not that, I can pick up on it a lot maybe a bit more in movies and Stu which is where is meant to work but for media consumption you’re going to have a really good time with these speakers if especially if you check them up all the way to 100% And I’m just going to turn up the volume here and then have a listen [Music] [Music] as they were as soon as you load something that’s a bit more processor heavy.

BATTERY

So, I’m just going to let that load and then I’m going to come out of here oh we’re going to be a great team like Moses and his buddy who like to collect seashells yay reason number three is gaming, and we’ll check out some games on here uh we’re starting off with 76% battery and the temperatures are quite low. I have performance mode turned on in the battery settings and the screen brightness is around 75%. First example will be qual mobile war zone so that’s my go to highest for vision quality we have is medium and I’ve set everything else to high absolute Joy playing the game here I’ve got my controller connected and no problem, I mean it wasn’t Peak visual quality but still honestly good enough minimal delay in anything.

Honor MagicPad 2

I hardly noticed any frames dropping I’m not too sure if it was actually hitting 60 FPS, I wasn’t able to monitor the frames unfortunately but nice and smooth enough for me anyway and I was TI this so we can see after 10 minutes of me playing we lost 3% battery and the CPU temperature has increased to 37.4 but feeling The tablet, It didn’t feel that warm against impact. After waiting nearly 15 minutes for you to compile the shaders which was annoying finally getting into the game and again, I started off with the default Graphics running absolutely fine we’re going to switch it up to the highest and I’m going to set the FPS to hit 60 and are absolutely battery full on here. Honestly this display with it being AMOLED just makes everything so much better the colors are so nice on here the contrast is really good and it’s an absolute joy for anything you’re veing on this tablet. I really enjoyed it, but this game was running absolutely fine, and it was, I would say in the higher. End of the FPS range cuz, it was running really buty smooth.

Then 21 minutes in we’re down to 67% and the CPU is at 41° and the batter is at 87. So, you know it’s kind of hitting the CPU and GPU as we would expect next, we’ll check out GTA VC I’m going to crank the resolution up to the highest. And again as I was expecting no problem game was running absolutely smooth and again I not enjoy to play a classic game like this and after nearly half an hour of back to back gaming on the highest possible settings we’re down to 65% battery and the temperatures are a bit better, I City not being, So demanding so as a gaming tablet you are going to be able to your high end games on here no problem. Now let’s take a look at three potential drawbacks, that might make you think twice about buying the Honor Magic Pad 2, It wasn’t easy to find many negatives. As overall it’s a pretty impressive device you might even consider these points to be nitpicky, but no device is perfect right.

Here are their reasons you might want to pass on the Honor Magic Mad 2. Reason number one would be soft quare support or better put the lack of it the honor magic pad 2 is running on Android 14 with magic magic OS 8.0. The problem with owner is that quite sketchy to get information on OS upgrades. I’m pretty sure the tablet will have regular security patches, but I couldn’t find any information on OS upgrades and looking at the track history, it’s a bit of a hit and miss where device is going to get no upgrade. It’s going to take quite a while for it to read the devices, so that’s something just to take into consideration called 1813 for single core and 4,124 for multi score on pin 6 one then 22 is scored 1 million 30 5,299. So quite a high score there on 3D Mark. Wildlife stress tests, it performed quite well with a frame rate ranging from 26 to 87.

CAMERA

The cameras While most people don’t really on tablets for serious photography, The cameras are still a bit underwhelming the auto Magic Pad 2 features a 13-map rear camera and a 9-map front camera in good lighting conditions. They actually perform reasonably well delivering decent photos and clear video but once the light drops the quality really takes a hit image can look soft and L detail especially when compared to what you’d get from a smartphone or premium tablets. If You’re Expecting high-end camera performance this might not be the tablet for you but it’s fine for casual use video calling things like that and reason number three and my last reason would be the design but, Let me explain while these drawbacks may seem Min out, They’re still worth mentioning the design of the auto magic pad 2 is overall really impressive, it’s sleek and Incredibly thin.

There are a few limitations to consider, firstly there’s no option for expandable storage and there’s no cellular connectivity option. At least for the UK version plus, there’s no headphone jack and that’s something that’s missing. Even in higher end devices looking at you Apple another point is the rear panel instead of metal. It’s made of fiber gloss while it still feels nice in the hand, it doesn’t quite offer the premium feel of aluminum. I know these are small gripes, but they do stand out that said the design as a whole is great especially with those slim bezels that make for a more immersive viewing experience.
