Discover the UK’s Best Handset: Switching from Xiaomi to Pixel
My Journey from Xiaomi to Pixel: What I Discovered
I recently made the switch from the Xiaomi 14 to the Pixel 10, and I was surprised by the differences. The Xiaomi 14 had a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, Leica cameras, and 90W charging. However, I found that the Pixel 10 offered a more streamlined experience.
One of the first things I noticed was the lack of unnecessary notifications on the Pixel 10. With the Xiaomi 14, I would often wake up to a cluster of notifications that I didn’t need to know about. The Pixel 10, on the other hand, only showed me notifications that I had explicitly asked for.
The Call Screen feature on the Pixel 10 was also a game-changer. It allows you to screen unknown calls and transcribes the caller’s response in real-time. I found this feature to be incredibly useful, and I’ve used it over 50 times since switching to the Pixel 10.
The camera on the Pixel 10 was also a pleasant surprise. While the Xiaomi 14 had a more impressive camera system on paper, the Pixel 10’s camera produced more realistic results. The skin tones were more natural, and the textures were preserved.
Another feature that I found useful was Magic Cue, which connects your Gmail, Calendar, and Messages and surfaces relevant context at the right moment. I’ve used it a dozen times without thinking, and it’s been right every time.
The Pixel 10 also received updates more quickly than the Xiaomi 14. The Android 15 update landed on my Xiaomi around three months after it went live on Pixel. The Pixel 10 launched with Android 16 on day one, with security patches landing in the first week of every month.
However, I did notice that the charging speed on the Pixel 10 was slower than the Xiaomi 14. The Pixel 10 charges at 29W, while the Xiaomi 14 charged at 90W. This meant that I had to plan my charging sessions more carefully.
Overall, I’m happy with my decision to switch to the Pixel 10. While it may not have the fastest charging speed or the most impressive camera system, it offers a more coherent and streamlined experience. The notification calm, Call Screen, and Magic Cue features have all been incredibly useful, and I appreciate the timely updates.
If you’re considering switching from Xiaomi to Pixel, I would recommend it. The Pixel 10 is a great choice for anyone looking for a hassle-free Android experience. Just be aware of the slower charging speed, and plan accordingly.
