Hacks Season 5: The Final Chapter

The wait is almost over for UK fans of the hit comedy series Hacks, as the fifth and final season is set to premiere on HBO Max in the UK this spring. The story of Deborah Vance and Ava Daniels, two comedians turned supportive friends, is drawing to a close. The final season promises to bring a fresh dose of drama, razor-sharp jokes, and showbiz satire.

In the previous season, Deborah fulfilled her lifelong dream of hosting The Late Night Show, but her journey was not without its challenges. She faced a tough choice: either fire Ava, who had antagonised the network, or leave the show with her. Ultimately, she decided to resign from The Late Night Show, mocking the CEO and announcing her decision during a live episode.

Season 5 will surely cover the struggles of Jimmy and Kayla, who are trying to run their own PR agency. We really hope to see more of Marcus, who, in season 4, resigned from working with Deborah. Something tells us that he may reconsider his decision and return to Deborah’s gang, possibly with some brilliant new ideas.

The logline for season 5 reads: In the aftermath of mistaken and unflattering news reports that she passed away, Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) and Ava (Hannah Einbinder) return to Las Vegas more determined than ever to secure Deborah’s legacy as a comedian. The season will consist of ten episodes and will premiere on Thursday, 9 April 2026.

The following cast members will reprise their roles in the fifth season: Jean Smart – Deborah Vance, Hannah Einbinder – Ava Daniels, Paul W. Downs – Jimmy LusSaque, Carl Clemons-Hopkins – Marcus, Megan Stalter – Kayla, and many more. Sadly, there will not be a Hacks season 6, as the show will end with season 5.

Paul W Downs, Hacks co-creator, told The Hollywood Reporter: We pitched the very last scene in the very last episode when we were pitching the show, and we’ve always had a pretty clear vision of what the tentpoles of each season would be… Five would be ideal. Jen Statsky, series’ co-creator, stated: I think keeping the relationship fresh and making sure there are new places for Deborah and Ava to go, that is the beating heart of the show.
