Xiaomi’s Compact Powerhouse Gets Flagship Chip
Xiaomi has confirmed that the upcoming Pad Mini will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chipset. This aligns with earlier leaks positioning the Pad Mini as a compact tablet with flagship-level performance in a small form factor.
The Dimensity 9400+ is built on a 3 nm process node, offering improvements in energy efficiency and performance over previous generations. Leaks suggest that Xiaomi is pairing it with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, delivering high throughput and responsiveness for demanding tasks.

With this chip, the Pad Mini is expected to handle multitasking, gaming, and productivity workloads with ease. The combination of high performance and a compact chassis aims to address a gap in the small tablet market, which has long been dominated by Apple’s iPad mini.
Additionally, Xiaomi is said to equip the Pad Mini with a 7,500 mAh battery and support 67W fast charging, allowing the tablet to recharge rapidly despite the power draw of a powerful processor. The inclusion of this fast charging is strategic, as maintaining battery life and usability in a compact device is a key challenge.
However, while Xiaomi has announced these specs, availability outside of Asia remains uncertain. For now, the Dimensity 9400+ inside the Pad Mini positions the device as one of the most capable small Android tablets slated for release in 2025.
