Pixel 11 Price Hike: Not as Bad as it Looks

The latest leak from French site Dealabs suggests that the Google Pixel 11 series will see a significant price hike, with the base model starting at £879. However, this price increase is not as severe as it seems, as Google has ditched the 128GB models and will now start with 256GB of storage.

The 256GB model of the Pixel 10 cost £899 at launch, so the Pixel 11 is actually £20 cheaper in the UK for the same amount of storage. The same story applies to the Pixel 11 Pro, with its £1,079 starting price being £20 less in Britain than the equivalent Pixel 10 model.

While it would be better if Google didn‘t introduce any price rises, this move is a smart response to the ongoing ‘RAMaggedon’ caused by huge demand from AI datacentres. The cost of RAM has skyrocketed, making it impossible for companies to introduce notable upgrades without increasing prices or absorbing a big hit to their profits.

Release Date and Upgrades

Google has settled into a consistent August launch month for its flagships, and the Pixel 11 series is unlikely to be any different. Dealabs suggests that the new phones will begin shipping on 20 August, eight days earlier than the Pixel 10 in 2025.

The Pixel 11 series is expected to get Google’s new Tensor G6 chipset and new main rear cameras across the lineup. ‘Pixel Glow’ RGB lights are also expected to make an appearance on some models, likely around the edge of the camera bar. Other upgrades include brand-new ‘Moss’ and ‘Pine’ green shades across some models.

In comparison to other flagship devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy S25 and the Apple iPhone 17, the Pixel 11 series seems to be holding its own in terms of price and features. The iPad Air M2 and Apple Watch Series 10 may also face competition from the Pixel 11 series, particularly if Google can deliver on its promise of improved performance and camera capabilities.
