God of War TV Series: Release Date, Cast and Plot Revealed
God of War TV Series: Everything You Need to Know
The God of War TV series has been in the works for a while now, and we’re finally getting some exciting updates. Amazon is developing the show, which is based on the popular mythology-inspired game franchise from Sony.
The series will follow the story of Kratos, a Spartan warrior, and his son Atreus as they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Along the way, they’ll encounter deities and creatures from Norse mythology, including the god of mischief, Loki.
Ryan Hurst has been cast as Kratos, while Max Parker will play the role of Heimdall, the son of Odin and the guardian of the Bifrost. Teresa Palmer will play Sif, Thor’s wife and goddess of Wheat, Earth, Harvest and Family.
Odin, the All-Father, will be portrayed by Mandy Patinkin, known for his roles in Homeland and The Princess Bride. The red-haired god Thor, Odin’s son, will be played by Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, who recently starred in the second season of Severance.
One of the most beloved characters in the God of War games is Mimir, a witty Celtic fae and Odin’s advisor. In the TV series, he will be played by Alastair Duncan, who voiced the character in the games.
The series will also feature Danny Woodburn and Jeff Gulka as the dwarf blacksmith brothers, Brok and Sindri. The duo is known for forging Thor’s hammer and helps Kratos and Atreus during the game.
With a two-season order, Amazon clearly has high hopes for the show. The television adaptation of God of War will be one of the studio’s most significant upcoming projects.
So, when can we expect the God of War TV series to be released? Filming is expected to begin in 2026, and considering the time needed for on-set work, post-production, and marketing, we estimate that the series will hit Prime Video in 2027.
