The OnePlus Nord 5 is equipped with the powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor and up to 16GB RAM, making it an exciting option for mobile gamers. But real gaming performance depends on more than just specs. In this test, the phone was used to play some of the most demanding games over several days to check frame rates, heat management, battery drain, and overall smoothness. Here is how it performed under real gaming conditions.

Smooth Gameplay Across Popular Titles
The first thing noticeable while gaming on the OnePlus Nord 5 is how responsive and fluid the gameplay feels. Thanks to the 144Hz AMOLED display, even basic movements in casual games appear ultra-smooth. But when it comes to graphic-heavy titles like BGMI, Call of Duty Mobile, and Genshin Impact, the phone continues to impress.
In BGMI, the game ran on HDR graphics with Extreme frame rate enabled. Gameplay was stable at 60 fps without noticeable frame drops, even during long sessions of 30 to 45 minutes. Touch response was accurate, and the display size made it easier to spot enemies and aim precisely.
Call of Duty Mobile also delivered excellent results. On Very High graphics and Max frame rate, the Nord 5 handled multiplayer and battle royale modes effortlessly. Animations, aiming, and motion were fluid, and there was no sign of lag or input delay during fast-paced action.
Genshin Impact, which is a more demanding title, defaulted to High settings. While the phone maintained good performance most of the time, there were occasional dips in frame rate when multiple enemies appeared or during teleport sequences. However, the overall experience was still very playable and better than most mid-range phones.
Heat and Battery Performance While Gaming
During extended gaming sessions, the Nord 5 handled heat fairly well. The device warmed up slightly after 30 minutes of gaming but never reached uncomfortable levels. The temperature remained stable, which shows effective thermal management in the hardware and software.
Battery drain was also tested during gameplay. On average, 30 minutes of gaming on high settings consumed around 10 to 12 percent battery. This means the phone can deliver up to 4 to 5 hours of non-stop gaming on a full charge. Thanks to 80W fast charging, even if the battery runs low, a short break is enough to get back into the game.
Final Verdict on Gaming Experience
After testing for multiple days, the OnePlus Nord 5 proves to be a strong performer for mobile gaming. It handles heavy titles smoothly, keeps temperatures in check, and supports long play sessions without rapid battery loss. The 144Hz display enhances the visual experience, and the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 keeps up with even the most demanding games. For casual and competitive gamers alike, the Nord 5 delivers a reliable and enjoyable gaming experience.
